Mere Grange is located directly off the A570 St Helens Linkway close to Junction 9 of the M62 and is part of the St Helens M62 Growth Area. The opportunity, secured against competing sites in Warrington and Wigan, will see the delivery of an industrial warehouse unit which will be occupied on a long term lease.

Construction is expected to start on site in summer, immediately following completion of Network Space’s four new speculative industrial/warehouse units totalling 90,000 sq ft which are currently under construction, the latest video of which can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5zXOjyk75Y.  The four self-contained, detached buildings range in size from 17,500 sq ft to 26,500 sq ft and Agents B8 and CBRE are already fielding very encouraging enquiries for the space. This leaves a final remaining commercial plot of 1.2 acres which can accommodate up to 25,000 sq ft, available on a Design & Build basis for which it is currently courting strong enquiries. The balance of the Mere Grange site is an 8 acre residential phase which is currently under offer, with a deal anticipated to be formalised in April 2018.

Stephen Barnes, Managing Director (Development) for Network Space said:

“Securing this opportunity is a significant win for Network Space, Mere Grange and the Borough.  Being able to secure this quality of occupier is testament to the great site we have at Mere Grange, our credentials as a delivery partner and our very positive partnership with St Helens MBC, Homes England and the Combined Authority.  All the key elements of the scheme have really come together over the last 2 years through that partnership and the delivery of this latest building will only serve to further establish the site as a location of choice for businesses”.

Cllr John Fulham, Cabinet Member for Growth said:

“The Mere Grange development in Sutton Heath demonstrates the confidence that investors now have in St Helens. This latest investment is in addition to the construction next door already rising from the ground and will see further jobs being created, having faced off competition from Wigan and Warrington.”

Council Leader, Barrie Grunewald added:

“Hot on the heels of the Parkside application and Movianto this investment decision shows St Helens is on the up and the local economy has grown over 23% since 2009. Our Local Plan will help to make sure we can achieve full employment, with jobs on peoples’ doorsteps, not just in Warrington, Liverpool and Manchester.”
